How do you Remediate Asbestos in Soil?
Dunton Environmental has successfully completed asbestos remediation works for St James Group at a residential scheme located in Fulham, South West London.
Demolition and piling works at the site had led to the generation of a surplus volume of asbestos contaminated soils and hard-core requiring off-site disposal. The waste classification meant that the traditional landfill approach was neither an economical or sustainable solution.
Dunton Environmental were able to provide St James with significant cost savings by undertaking physical separation of the asbestos from the soils. Further selection and sorting of the residual soils allowed the material to be reused off-site in environmental betterment projects; thereby avoiding costly landfill charges. Material movements were managed by Dunton and the works were completed on time and within budget.
When asked about the works, Ben Van Dijk – Senior Quantity Surveyor for St James Group commented “Dunton provided a good service and the site team were always very willing to help”.
