Heavy Metal Remediation

Over the years heavy metals have been mined, smelted and used in a variety of industrial processes. The waste from these metals has often been left behind polluting the surrounding surfaces and soil, many of which pose risks to both human and environmental health.

Dunton Environmental has developed a unique formulae which specifically targets heavy metal contaminants to reduce their solid concentrations.

Our in-house Regener8-19 product can be applied to soils and other solids and acts to alter the chemical environment within the matrix.

A unique Dunton Environmental formulae targetting heavy metal contaminants in soil by the exchange of ions in specific metal-binding polymers. The treated soils are then composted to increase vegetative composition rendering them suitable for plant growth.

Bioremediation

Dunton Environmental have developed a bio accelerator which harnesses the naturally occurring ability of microbial metabolisms to degrade a huge range of compounds including hydrocarbons (e.g. oil, petrol and diesel), polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), and polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs).

Our bioremediation technologies can be classified as in situ or ex situ. In situ involves treating the contaminated material without excavation while ex situ involves the removal of the contaminated material to be treated and made available for reuse elsewhere.

Our most popular method is ex situ, which involves the excavation of contaminated soil followed by its fragmentation via a purpose-designed rotary bucket. The soil is then treated and placed into soil bunds. It is then monitored until the pollutant levels are reduced to agreed target levels.

Invasive Weed Treatment

The perennial problem of invasive weeds is becoming widespread. The potential damage to developments from Japanese Knotweed dictates that effective eradication is necessary. Traditional excavation techniques is no longer a viable financial option.

In consideration of cost and time constraints placed on land owners, Dunton Environmental have invested in advanced technology, for fast, effective and guaranteed Japanese Knotweed eradication. We have developed Eradicate which is arguably the most effective guaranteed in-situ method of eradication, and EradZion8 which is the most rapid solution to treating Japanese Knotweed contamination next to dig and dump.

Treatment durations are as rapid as 1 week for eradzion 8 treatment, and up to 12 months for eradicate treatment.

Groundwater Treatment

The control of the pollution of groundwater is a top priority of the Environment Agency and regrettably in many pollution cases the problem has existed for so long that the contaminants have entered perched water pockets, the controlled groundwater or even the surface water system. In these instances it is necessary to combine a source removal exercise of any free product with an active dissolved phase groundwater treatment.

Since disposal of contaminated water at treatment facilities is often cost prohibitive and time consuming, Dunton Environmental have developed the bio-H-filter which enables the removal of dissolved phase contaminants from the water, on site, in an easy to use, cost effective manner.
